Codex.

Two commands: add the server, then sign in.

Add and sign in#

$ codex mcp add metasearch --url https://metasearch.sh/mcp
$ codex mcp login metasearch

codex mcp login opens a metasearch.sh page: sign in, pick the organisation that pays, and allow access. On a machine without a browser, add --no-browser and open the printed link elsewhere; if the last page fails to load, paste its full address back into the terminal. The server then appears in codex mcp list, and the Codex IDE extension reads the same configuration.

or by hand in ~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.metasearch]
url = "https://metasearch.sh/mcp"

With an API key#

For codex exec in CI, read a key from the environment instead of signing in:

$ codex mcp add metasearch --url https://metasearch.sh/mcp --bearer-token-env-var METASEARCH_API_KEY
~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.metasearch]
url = "https://metasearch.sh/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "METASEARCH_API_KEY"

Codex waits 60 seconds for a tool by default, and the server answers inside that. The tools and prices are on the MCP server page.
