Page extracts start with direct, a flat $0.00075 a page

· Search

An extract with no engine named now tries direct first, at $0.00075 a page, and moves to another engine only when direct cannot read the page. Before, extracts started with engines that charge by page length, about $0.002 for a long article.

  • When direct cannot read a page, the next engine answers and you pay only for the one that answered.
  • metasearch.sh/status now checks direct every 6 hours, like the other engines.

One key, and the search picks the mode for you

· Search

Send a query with no mode and metasearch.sh chooses the mode and engines for it, then orders the results by relevance. The response says which mode it chose and why.

  • One API key covers every engine listed at metasearch.sh/pricing.
  • Name a mode or an engine and it is used exactly as given.
  • Choosing the mode and reordering results add nothing to the price.
  • Send rerank: false to keep the engines’ own order.

Per-call prices for every engine, and failed calls are free

· Billing

metasearch.sh/pricing lists what one call costs on each engine in each mode. Failed, timed-out and empty calls are not charged.

  • You pay the engine’s list price × 1.5, at least $0.0001 a call.
  • Each response shows what the call cost and your balance after it.
  • Top up any whole amount from $5 to $1,000, with no subscription.
  • New accounts get $1 of credit after confirming their email.
  • Credits never expire while your account is open.

Search from Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Codex

· MCP

Add metasearch.sh/mcp as a remote MCP server with your API key, and your agent can search the web and fetch pages as markdown, paid from the same balance.

  • Setup for each app is at metasearch.sh/docs/mcp.

Sign in by email, and a new dashboard

· Dashboard

Sign in with a link sent to your inbox, with no password. The dashboard shows your balance, keys, usage, logs and receipts, and works on phones.

  • Your balance, keys and history carry over: sign in again with the same email.
  • Logs list every recent call with its mode, engine and charge.

Clearer pages that load faster

· Site

The home page downloads about half as many image bytes on phones, and a mistyped link now lands on a page that leads home, to the docs or to pricing.

  • Every page shares one menu: pricing, docs, status and dashboard.
  • The terms and privacy policy say plainly how accounts close, how refunds and disputes affect credit, and what is kept and for how long.

Searches try another engine when one fails

· Search

Leave out the provider and a search goes to the first available engine for its mode, then to the next if that one fails, up to three attempts.

  • Each response names the engine that answered.
  • Name a provider to use only that engine, with no fallback.
  • Agents can read every mode and engine in one request at metasearch.sh/api/v1/manifest.

Your keys, usage and invoices in the dashboard

· Dashboard

The dashboard now shows your API keys, what you spent and on which engines, every recent request, and an invoice for each top-up.

  • Open a key again at any time to copy it.
  • Usage charts your calls and spend by day.
  • Logs list recent requests with their mode, engine and cost.
  • Billing has a PDF invoice for every top-up.

Documentation

· Docs

The docs cover a first search in a few minutes, every request field and error, how billing works, and how search-cli fits in.
