ChatGPT.
Add metasearch.sh as a custom MCP server and ChatGPT can search and read pages through your organisation's balance.
Add it#
- Open
chatgpt.com/plugins, choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. - Name it
metasearch.shand enterhttps://metasearch.sh/mcpunder Connection, with OAuth as the authentication. Leave the client ID empty: ChatGPT registers itself. - Confirm with I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
- A metasearch.sh page opens: sign in with the email link, pick the organisation that pays, and allow access.
- In a chat, pick metasearch.sh from the plus menu, or name it in the prompt: "Use metasearch.sh to find this week's news on solid-state batteries."
Custom servers follow your workspace's policies: on Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin may need to allow them first. The same server works in Codex; see Codex.
What ChatGPT sees#
Two read-only tools. search takes a query and returns results, each with an id, title and URL, so ChatGPT can cite them. fetch takes one of those ids, or any URL, and returns the page as text. Both tools state that they read public web pages and change nothing, so ChatGPT runs them without asking you to confirm each call.
Every result reports what the call cost and the balance left. When the balance is too low, the tool says so and stops. An owner or admin adds funds on metasearch.sh; ChatGPT never offers it.
